Get Your Back Links Followed On AboutUs.org
I always take notice of the individuals who participate on this blog by leaving comments to my posts (that is why you should leave comments on all the blogs you read). And one thing I noticed was many of your business websites don’t have your links followed on AboutUs.org. That is having them remove rel=”nofollow” on the links from aboutus.org to your website. Otherwise known as a Dofollow backlink.
So I thought I’d let you know of a great way to get free, anchor-text friendly links from a great resource.
If you don’t already have your website listed on AboutUs then DO IT NOW. But also don’t just add your website, do it thoroughly. Once you have your listing complete and looking good, then you can ask them to remove rel=”nofollow”. Check out this discussion on how to get your links profollowed on AboutUs.
What I usually do is create a complete business listing there, then go to their chat room and ask someone to profollow my listing. They usually reply fairly quickly, but if not you can send them an email too.
Be sure to do a good job with your business listing before making the request. This is a great free resource for small businesses to build quality links and get some additional web presence. Not only that, the better you do with your listing the higher up you will show in their category lists. For example, my business website and my SEO blog come up #2 and #3 respectively for SEO. http://www.aboutus.org/list/seo. I’ll go into optimizing your aboutus.org listing in another post.

Wesley,
As always, you have good information. I was not aware of this site. I went in and made changes and additions to data that they had. However, I was unable to add where there was not already something, IE “Additional Information” and “Brookside Dental is ____” Also, I couldn’t figure out how to get to the “Gallery”. I will try again after my brain has rested.
I was amazed at how many people visit the Aboutus site.
Thanks again for some very useful info.
Gil

Hi Gil,
Don’t worry you’re not alone. It was confusing for me too at first. Here is their faq: http://www.aboutus.org/Help_FAQ. Regarding “Brookside Dental is___”, there should be a link titled “click here to sum up this website”, to the right. Just click the link and enter your text.

Most small business folks know the importance of links to their site but just probably dont have the time to do it. Or find it too “expensively” to outsource.

yeah. Plus with the big crack-down on dofollow links, most small businesses have little success doing it on their own.

I wanted to let you know that our ProFollow policy is going on hiatus. All pages on AboutUs.org will be NoFollow, but we hope that we will be able to reinstate ProFollow down the road.
Further details in our blog post. Let us know if you have any questions.

Hi Wesley,
I’m not an SEO person. That is for sure! I create products and try to have as much fun as I can.
I’ve enjoyed your website and out of every site I’ve visited in the past few months, yours is by far the most I have learned new information.
No joke! I now have so many new questions I don’t know where to begin. Thanks for bringing so much value to us.
