There is so much information about SEO on the web today, it can get really overwhelming trying to figure out who to listen and what to do. So I wrote this guide with that in mind to help you identify and focus on the important aspects of SEO.

It is broken down into 7 sections.

  1. Choosing a Domain Name
  2. Optimizing the HEAD Section
  3. Optimizing the BODY Section
  4. Importance of Backlinks
  5. Taking Advantage of a Blog
  6. Crucial SEO Mistakes to Avoid
  7. A Simple SEO Checklist

So, why did I spend all of that time producing an SEO guide just to give it away for free?

Well, let me be completely honest with you. This free SEO e-Book is meant to encourage people to subscribe to the blog. See, getting search traffic is great, but that’s just one small piece of the puzzle if you want to make any money from your website. And, even though this blog is primarily focused on SEO, I want it to be different than every other SEO blog by encouraging you to look beyond just getting search traffic. One of the most common issues I see is people thinking that loads of traffic from the search engines automatically equates to a ton of business and money. But, the truth of it is, traffic is only a small piece of the puzzle. As I’m sure many of you are aware.

Anyway, I’m very excited about this SEO eBook release and your constructive feedback would mean a lot to me.

Nice job. Some good things in there to help ones SEO efforts. Thanks also for the Nofollow Link Checker. I have been trying to figure out which Social Sites to use as many are Nofollow but I didn’t know how to determine it.
Also, something you might want to pass on to your readers is a “bad link” checker that I use for checking links of comments left on my two blogs. I seem to get a very high number of spammers and bad links on the blog attached to our main website which is I don’t get too many spam comments on my blogspot blog. In either case, if the person has a good compliment or something useful to say, I want the link going to my blog even though it may not be a dentistry url. I seem to be getting a lot of comments from the UK. Many of these are OK, even though they aren’t dentistry sites, but some are just junk. However, I tend to run any UK links through the bad link detector. It is only a guide, for example anyone that links to me and has links to their site with “Essex” in the URL will get a bad mark for that link. But it shows you all the “bad” links if there are any. You can find the bad link checker at the following url:

Again, thanks for the SEO Report.

    Hey Gil,
I didn’t know about the bad-neighborhood tool. That’s pretty cool. Thanks for the share.

Also, are you using Askimet on the Brookside Dental blog?

It catches 99% the SPAM left on my blogs for me.

Thanks for sharing this ebook. What do you think could make a PR drop from 5 to 3 within a month. It happened to me. I only noticed that I dropped a backlink from a PR 8 site but that shouldn’t be the cause.

  • August 1st, 2012 at 8:47 pm Wesley LeFebvre said:

    Hi Cynamix,
Actually, I’m certain that was the primary reason for the drop. Did you drop in rankings/traffic too, or just PageRank?
