29 Great Backlink Sources To Consider

chain links For the last few weeks I’ve been working on a huge master Excel document with most of the satisfactory to high-value backlink sources I can think of. A checklist if you will. Needless to say the list is extremely long and I’ve gotten a little burnt out now. I’m sure I’ve overlooked some very obvious ones and could really use your help identifying them. In no particular order, here is how I have the link sources categorized right now:

Location Specific Directories

Misc. Profile Pages

Testimonials
Case Studies
Portfolios

Relevant Link Exchanges

Third Party Web Stat Tools
Article Submissions
Press Releases
Guest Posting
Guest Books
Client Websites
Banner Ads
Classified Ads
Employee Profiles

This list doesn’t include getting back links from social media or link-baiting such as high-value blog posts, badges, widgets etc. Just backlinks that are acquired more manually. Link baiting and social media will be on my next list.

I’m sure this list of possible backlink sources is far from perfect, and would appreciate it if you shared some of your ideas here too. Would love to know what I’m forgetting, or haven’t even thought of yet.

Great list. However, I won’t rely too much on directories because it takes time before you get listed. I say you can submit your website to them, but move on to other techniques.

Nice list. Web 2.0 directories can be very beneficial too. I use Squidoo, Hubpages, WordPress, LiveJournal, etc. extensively in my link building campaigns, and they work great. Just my 2 cents.
